Sacraments

As a Catholic school, the sacraments are very important to us.  We have Mass in school once a fortnight at the beginning of the day on a Friday.   In addition, we encourage parents to take their children to Mass on a Sunday so they are able to become an integral part of the parish community.

Sacraments

There are some special Sacraments that are an opportunity for our children, family, school and church to come together in celebration of our Catholic faith

First Holy Communion

Year 3 pupils have the opportunity to receive the Sacraments of Reconciliation and First Holy Communion. Staff in school and parents at home, prepare the pupils for this Sacrament and help to deepen the children’s understanding of their faith.

Sacrament of Confirmation

Year 6 pupils have the opportunity to receive the Sacrament of Confirmation.

The journey towards these sacraments starts at the beginning of the academic year with a Mass of enrolment where pupils and parents pledge their commitment to the sacrament their child is due to receive.  Further meetings are arranged throughout the year as appropriate to ensure parents are fully aware of the activities their child is undertaking and the expectations of them.

If you have any further questions about the Sacraments, please speak to a member of our school’s staff or to Father Michael at St. John’s Church.
